The last week for me has been EXTREMELY hectic. It was one of those weeks where it seemed that literally, EVERY piece of my life had some messed up situation. There were money issues, house selling issues, family issues, kid issues, moving issues, work issues, new project issues and I could go on. It would be so easy to just want to punch a hole in the wall, or just to bury it all under some heavy alcohol, or some crazy super tasty foods. But even though these bandaids aren't bad things, they are just ways to run away from the situation. When the world starts falling around you like this, it's not the time to get all emotional about it. You need to shut the emotions off so that you are only working as efficiently as possible. It's not easy. I had a few VERY loud yells in my car when I was by myself. But even that doesn't do anything. I had to hit a reset on my mindset. I took 5 minutes and closed my eyes and just started to breathe. In through my nose and out through my mouth forcefully. Did this 30 times, then blew all my air out and held my breath as long as I could. While I was doing this, I would do everything NOT to think of my LIST of problems. Instead, I would feel all the different parts of my body. There would be a tingling sensation and a relaxation since I was hyper oxygenated. As i got to the end of being able to hold my breath, I'd take one big breath in and hold it. Feeling how all this air is being moved around my body. Then after about 30 seconds, I would just breath easily. It would put me in a MUCH more focused and relaxed state. Then I could get to business. I had to bring everything down to a manageable tempo and only then could actually take care of the issues. I was calmer, I could prioritize better and I was in a better frame of mind to deal with a bunch of crap efficiently. It felt so good and was a HUGE help!! There will be times when shit hits the fan and even times when there is so much shit that the fan actually stops. It's up to you to hit the reset button. Give yourself a good 5-10 minutes to cool out. It will get you out of the mud so you can start making moves. If you haven't tried this yet.....give it a try:)
