Have you ever tried to guess what someone is saying, or what they would be saying, just by looking at them? When you look at someone there will be body movements, postures, and gestures that will clue you into what they thinking and how they are feeling. It's always fun to do this in a restaurant and pick out groups to guess their conversations lol! But the reason this works is that our body language is a direct connection to how we are feeling and what we are thinking. We might be able to hide it a little but for the most part, our bodies will tell the world what's in our head. So let's say you are in a workout, it's halfway through and the bar is getting really heavy and your legs are REALLY tired. What is your body saying about you are feeling? Shoulder slumped, hands on hips, chest sunk in, and head shaking back and forth saying "No". Sound familiar? What would you say this person is thinking? Probably not very confident about what they have to do. Probably don't think they can do it. In fact, the shaking of the head saying NO is saying exactly that; there is NO way they can do it. You will see this same type of body language before a competition, or an interview, or even asking someone out. Do they stand up tall and proud? Do they smile? Are they breathing normally? Are they sitting relaxed? Is their head saying YES as they are walking around? Look around you and see what others are doing then think about yourself and see what you are subconsciously saying. The object is to change your movements and actions and subconscious language to a more positive conversation. Always stand up tall with shoulders back and chest up. breath deeply and exhale confidently. Smile. Move your head up and down in a YES motion. If this becomes your normal positioning, then your normal thoughts will be of self-confidence, pride, and ready to take on whatever it is. If you are in the middle of a battle, no matter what the current status, do the exact same thing and it will change your perspective about how you are doing and what you can do. It's these little things that yield massive changes. Give it a try! :)
