Insanity is doing the same thing over and over but expecting a different result. But it's hard not to since we always talk about not giving up, or "winners never quit and quitters never win", or "when you get knocked down you get back up again", or" if at first you don't succeed, try try again", etc. So how are you supposed to not go insane if you keep getting back up, trying, trying again, or you are a "winner" not wanting to quit? There is a big grey line between the two. In fact, sometimes "not quitting" will look like you are doing something completely different. And that is OK! When we start something new, we will fail a bunch. We haven't learned all the little finer details about whatever we are doing to be a huge success. So we learn, and we fail and then we learn some more and get a little better at it, then we fail and adjust and then get better again. During these times, it's important to keep getting back on the bike and doing the SAME thing over and over to learn these macro skills. And we do! Eventually, we get pretty good and we start chasing goals. We try and fall short, we try again and fall short. Here's where most people have problems: they get frustrated because they aren't succeeding and they quit or they assume its just like the very beginning stages where you just need to keep getting back up and practicing the same thing. Insanity, anger, frustration, a decline in self-confidence will all appear. But we are looking at it all wrong! We made it to this point! Now there needs to be new work on finer details. These finer details are what will separate the beginners from the achievers. And it's here that you need to adjust what you are doing, not just do the same thing you have been doing. You need to get a fresh set of eyes on you. You need to see what the masters are doing when they get stuck at this point. You need to understand WHY you are failing not just thinking its because you suck at it. You need to be open to other ideas and give them a try with a positive mind. You need to change the statements to "quitters never win and winners always adjust" or "if you don't succeed, adjust attempt, learn, adjust, again". Because it's not working, yet, doesn't mean you should stop. It just means you need to adjust and then you can advance! Don't repeat the same actions. Don't just quit. Adjust:)
