Wanting to do too much at one time is a HUGE problem of mine. And many times I seem to do this weird stream of consciousness with all the things I'm doing. I know what I have to complete, and I start on one task. Then I "take a break" from that one and move to this other task. Then, as I'm walking from one side of the room to the other, I start grabbing some stuff for another task (of course I'm thinking that I'm being extra efficient) and probably pick up some other stuff while I make my way back to my starting point. It's here I realize that I have wasted 1.5 hours and I'm not really much further in my original task. I'm wasting time and energy! Training, especially when we look at skills we want to improve on, is a MASSIVE problem for so many people because they do the exact same thing here. They will think about the things they want to improve in and it goes from "well I can't do these" as a priority, to " well I should be better at these because [fill in the name] can do these already" and then that becomes a priority also. The list grows and grows but the only thing that really ends up getting done is a bigger list! The only way you are going to be able to cross them off is to dedicate time to JUST that! So figure out what is THE most important thing you need to fix. Once you decide what that is, then plan your attack on THAT thing only. Once you cross it off, THEN you can move to the next item on the priority list. You have to remember that every time you switch from one thing to the next, you are leaving valuable time on the table that you will never get back. And the more times you switch, the more time is wasted and the longer it will take to complete ANYTHING!! This leads to "plateaus" and massive frustration. Don't let yourself fall into this trap, and it really is a trap! Pick your priority then act on it. Stay on task. Get it down. Then move on! You'll be crossing things off in no time!!:)
