Over the weekend, something terrible happened. Becky Conzelman passed away. She was on a girls trip with her daughter when she had a terrible headache and was vomiting. She went to the hospital where they found a brain aneurysm. They did immediate surgery which seemed to be successful but a few days later, she passed away. Becky was a Games Athlete, a Masters Games Athlete, a professional cyclist, a very strong woman, a wife, and a mother. She was my friend. It's a terrible loss and my thoughts and heart go out to her family. When things like this happen, it makes you think about your own mortality. That no matter how strong you are, if it's your time, then it's your time, and you don't get to pick it at all. It's easy to say that life is too short. But it really is. It's easy to say Carpe Diem, but since we don't know where the finish line is it's hard to decide just how hard to seize it or even which day to seize. But the one thing that is true is that life is not worth holding grudges, being angry, or not forgiving. These terrible loses can happen in the blink of an eye. Don't let them happen without you being able to say to those important to you that you love them. We have a new opportunity to express our feeling for those people each and every day. And we should because, as terrible as it sounds, there might not be a tomorrow. Nobody likes to think about this stuff. I know I don't. But you can think about the flip of it. You can think about how you WILL tell those you love that you love them, that you WILL let go of the stupid stuff from the past and the grudges, and that you WILL forgive so that you can have a much more fulfilled day every single day. Becky was a great person, and this is a terrible loss. You will be missed. Rest in Peace Becky.
