Ok, something I have been playing with lately, the Coffee-Nap, or the Nappuchino, as some are calling it. Those of us that drink coffee or some caffeinated drink will usually state that they need it to get that little kick to keep going. There are others that say that a 20-minute power nap is all you need to get yourself back on the horse and rev that focus up. But what if you put them together? Its something you HAVE to at least try. Here's the basic deal: You drink a cup of coffee or some other caffeinated drink and then immediately take a nap for no more than 20 minutes. The nap doesn't even have to be a full-blown dream sleep. It can be that weird in-between zone where you know you aren't asleep but there might be the sliding or falling feelings. But then you wake up about 15-20 after you down the coffee and you will feel refreshed and you will have a definite pep in your step! For most caffeine drinks, it usually takes around 20 minutes for the body to feel the effects. During this time is when you take your nap. The nap should be done when you normally feel the lowest, some will say approximately 7-8 hours after you first wake up but can be different everyone. You'll need to figure yours out. But when you wake up.....the increase in focus and overall pep will be felt. It's pretty impressive actually! They also say that as you nap more often, your body will actually become more accustomed to taking them and the amount of relaxation you get from them will increase. I know that drinking coffee and taking a nap sounds a little weird but I will say this is one of those things you need to not knock it 'til you've tried it. I have done it about 8 times now and each time I have felt refreshed. Also, I am one of those people that caffeine doesn't affect me much. I can usually drink a big cup of coffee and go right to bed, so for me I have found I don't need to drink the cup quickly. But for those that are caffeine sensitive, drink the cup quickly and then take your nap so your sleep isn't affected by the caffeine. You want the caffeine to kick in just as you are waking from the power nap. Give it a shot and see what happens!! :)
