Rough spots happen. Truthfully, they will ALWAYS happen. Usually, we can deal with a few of them and be ok. But when you are pelted with multiple, and they just seem to keep happening, it's VERY difficult to not bow your head and give in to the whole negative thing. We know that positive begets positive and negative begets negative, meaning if you constantly think one way or the other, the path of that usually will continue. Think of this: when everything is going great do you sit there and think about all the bad stuff? Probably not. You're probably riding high on all the good things that are happening. When you are down in the dumps, do you sit there and think about all the good things in your world? More than likely not (even though its something that definitely helps!). It's easy to stay positive when things are great. But when things aren't, how do you keep going in a positive manner? It takes work. Lots of work, but it also requires you to be kind to yourself. You can't beat yourself up. So let's say things start to go bad. The first few are ok and you can shrug them off. Then the next ones happen and you start to generate a "WTF" feeling. If you aren't able to get things to some sort of normal, then your confidence starts to fade. Once that goes, then every action becomes negative as the normal result. You have spun yourself into a deeper pit than was happening on it own. To stop this you need to get a grip on your thoughts right away. You need to try to shut your emotions down so that you can look at the situations as facts only (yes I know its easier said than done). When you can distance your emotion from the situation then you are able to make decisions more clearly and quicker than if they were mucked up by emotions. The reality is that situations aren't bad or good. They are just situations. You may or may not want them to happen but they are. Now its a matter of acting. Don't think of the possible results or outcomes when you act. Just make your best quick decision, then go. Then you are in a new location and make your next decisions from there. Try to use logic and facts to make your actions rather than emotion. Save those for those really great positive things that WILL happen. If they aren't right now, just know that they will if you make them happen:)
