There is an INTENT for each and every workout you do here at INFERNO and NEVER is the intent to give you a HARD workout. What does "hard" even mean anyway?? It's a vague term and hard for one person is easy for someone else. Each and every workout has a designed time frame you should finish, a designed number of reps you should be getting, a designed level of intensity you should be working (remember this is force x distance /time), and there is an overall plan for variety in movements and time domains. When the RX weights or movements are put up on the board, the intent is designed for the highest level of athlete to be able to get a particular response in the workout, hitting particular metabolic pathways, and prepping their body for a particular level of exertion. By programming for the highest level of athlete, I am able to use a sliding scale to hit every other athlete appropriately so that each is getting THEIR workout. The formula following the "RX" weights and movements allows everyone else to get the SAME desired response. For example, 185/125, 60%1RM, 10-15 UnBroken. The first numbers are the RX, then a percentage of your 1RM, and then a range of UNBROKEN reps you could hit if you were fresh. Let's say the weight is 185# for Clean and Jerk repeats of 10 reps per round and the desired intent is 3ish rounds. This means I am planning on you being around 30 CJs in that workout. If you go the RX weight because you can do the weight, but its over your percentage and you can't hit the unbroken range, then you will NOT be moving as fast, you will NOT be working at the desired intensity (you're doing less work in same time), and you will NOT be getting what you are supposed to be getting from the workout. Yes, I know that putting the RX next to your name is important to some, but the goal is overall better FITNESS and looking better naked, not an overall protected ego. Your job is to come in and give everything you have so you can become better. Our job is to give you the workout to allow you to get better. Let the intent drive your training, not your ego. You don't win anything by putting RX next to your name, but you lose if go RX and you really shouldn't. I know what the workouts will do for you, you just have to let them work. And they will work, I promise!! :)
