With all the social media outlets and the massive amounts people use them, comparing yourself to others is at an all-time high. How much money do they have, how fit are they, how great is their family life, how awesome is their job, how cute and sweet are their kids, etc, etc. They even say there have been incidents of high-end depression because of what some see online and compare that to their own lives. But we are putting our energy and concern in the wrong places. Instead of comparison, we need to be thinking self-evaluation. Self-evaluation is not saying anything is good or bad. It's taking a true, honest assessment of what you are doing and how you are doing compared to YOUR OWN standards. It's compared to where you would like to be and what you would like to be doing. But the hook on all of this is to do it as if you were looking at someone else. Emotion needs to be taken out of it as much as possible so that you can be as OBJECTIVE as possible, rather than SUBJECTIVE. Let's take your training and dieting: You have certain goals you would like to attain. Now, you sit down and examine the situation by asking questions like have you hit those goals yet, how close to the goals are you, what are the things that have been stopping you from hitting them, how often are you working on them, have you sought out any professionals or outside help, how much longer do you think you need to attain them, etc. Again these are all comparison to YOURSELF. Don't answer any of the questions based on someone else's success or failure. Don't make your timelines or directional maps based on someone else's success or failure. Every step must be based on you, where you are, your strengths and weakness, and designed to get the most out of you. Seeing what everyone out there is doing can give you some great ideas of things to shoot for, but don't EVER put them up on some pedestal because they have what you want. Don't compare and put yourself less than them. But take your time and be purely honest and non-emotional when you do your self-evaluations. It will be the best way for you to achieve your maximum!! :)
