Fear. We all feel it. We all have it. But we all deal with it differently. Basically fear is the self-protective emotion that is trying to keep us from harm. This might be physical harm or mental harm. Of course, you can say relationship fear, being embarrassed fear, financial fear, etc, etc are all in the mental realm. But at the core, the sense of fear is similar in all areas. The problem with fear is that its an incomplete picture. You see something you have to do, and because you don't know all the variables, you don't feel confident that you will be able to do what you need to do to be successful. But when we fill in the gaps we fill it with the most terrible outcomes imaginable. The purpose again is to keep us from harm, so the worse you can come up with, the more you won't do it or take the risk. Sure this will work in many circumstances but in normal everyday stuff, we can paralyze ourselves from life. Fear is just a feeling. It's not anything happening to you Its a negative "what-if". It's important to acknowledge the fear but accept it for what it is. You DON'T know the information in between the known parts so don't let your brain go and come up with crazy things just to fill in the gaps. Instead focus on what you CAN do right now, or what you WILL do when you get the chance. Fear can completely debilitate you at times but it can also be the greatest motivator. If used correctly, it can help you to stay focused to take those extra steps that you may have normally blown off. Or, it would have driven you to do more work to prepare for something coming up. What if you knew you didn't have any money coming in next month. You still have your bills and rent and food needs, etc. The fear of losing your house, not eating, not having electricity, etc is a fear. It's a true thing and valid. But instead of thinking about how you will be on the streets, think about you can do to make some money to get you through until the next paycheck. Sell some stuff on eBay, pick up some extra shifts, get another job, do some independent contract work, whatever. The fear will help you come up with some great, and even creative, ideas to get you through it. But its a matter of how you use the fear. Don't let in engulf you. Let it drive you! Fear can be a great motivator. Use it to your advantage!:)
