One of the things people quest for in their life is happiness. We all know what makes us happy and we know when we are happy. But can you truly explain what happiness is? It's a very vague concept. There are elements of joy, excitement, comfort, fulfillment, security, relaxation, completion, satisfaction, success, pride, and I could go on and on. This is why it's tough it is to nail down exactly what happiness is. With it being so vague, how are you supposed to try to find more happiness? It all comes down to the "glasses" which you see the world through. Is it possible to be happy when you are sick? Yes. Is it possible to be happy when you are homeless? Yes. Is it possible to be happy when you don't know exactly what you are doing career-wise? Yes. Is it possible to be happy when you have gone through a break-up? Yes. The answer is to be grateful for exactly where you are right at that moment. Gratitude is being truly thankful for the things you have and for where you are right at that moment. The world can ALWAYS be worse than it is and if what you have now is removed then you would obviously NOT be happy. Being thankful and grateful for these things is important. It changes your perspective of what your world is all about. It doesn't mean that you can't push and drive for more. It just means you thankfully recognize where you are and what you have right now. Every day you should take time to be thankful for these things. This simple act can be a ray of sunshine in a bleak and ugly storm. And this tiny change in attitude could be the one thing that pulls you through the current tough times. To feel this happiness though you need to believe it. It's not just saying words but being truly thankful for those things. When you can be present and thankful, you will feel all those different elements of happiness. And when you are happy, there are fewer roadblocks to where you are trying to get to. It ends up being the equation of "positive begets positive". When you are thankful, you feel better. When you feel better, you don't feel like burying your head. When you don't bury your head then you can do more things. When you can do more things, you feel less restricted and it will allow you to achieve more which will bring more of those "normal" happy things. You can do more when you are happier. Be thankful and present and have a Happy Day!! :)
