I think it's pretty well understood that you have to work hard to achieve your goals. For the most part, there is a very clear understanding of what you need to do and the fact that it will take commitment and dedication to make your way through to the finish line. But I don't think these are the things that stop people. It's the unexpected side swipes that life hands you. You might have your morning routine set up so that you get up early but there when you get up for that extra 30 minutes, it gets clogged up with other stuff instead of the whole reason you are getting up early. Or you are doing what you can to pay your bills off after the holidays and then an unexpected money thing slams you and takes what you have. Or you are training for a competition and then all of a sudden you get sick and can't train at all. These unexpected things WILL ALWAYS happen and if you can't roll with them then you will surely get stopped in your tracks by frustration and anger. We say that you have to keep your head down and your eyes forward when you are grinding towards your goals. You have to be able to absorb these bumps and cold-cocks that come out of the blue. Take the hit, but don't stop your forward momentum. DON'T LET IT STOP YOU!! Sure there might be a slowing to the progress but that doesn't mean it's over. Just keep moving. Keep your head down and don't get frustrated. These are things that you have no control over so instead of losing your shit about it, just acknowledge it and then move forward. Don't waste any extra time or energy on it. Save that for the drive forward and the goals you are pushing for. The fact is that it's not a matter of IF something will happen or not, but rather WHEN something will happen. Because of this, just accept them when they do and don't let it phase you. Forward, always FORWARD! :)
