Ever done something and then saw that someone else did the same thing but did it WAY better than you? How did that make you feel? The one time I was on the podium at the CrossFit Games, I was tied for first place going into the last event. It was Amanda, and this just happened to be Matt Swift's favorite event. It WASN'T mine. I felt like I was the better athlete out of the two of us, but he won the event and won the Crown. On the inside, I was more pissed that I can say. People were watching me, the guy that choose not to do Masters for so long, NOT win. I could have very easily chosen to make this be a tough situation for myself. Luckily, my oldest daughter was there and I felt it was important for me to show her how to lose gracefully. As I cooled down inside, I realized that I PR'ed my Amanda time. So no I wasn't happy that I lost, but I needed to celebrate my victory, which was that I did my best and got the best time in Amanda I ever have! This celebration wasn't some crazy jumping around thing, but it was an inner moment of pride. I was proud of myself for doing what I did, without concern about the others around me. This same thing NEEDS to happen to you. Who cares if someone beats you in the gym? Who cares if someone beats you in a competition? Are you proud of what you did? Are you proud of how you did? If you did well then be proud! It could be the worst time, or score of everyone, but it matters how it was for you. Be proud and if for some reason you can't get by thinking that no one else is proud of you.....well I am so there:)
