How is it that there are some people seem to be able to keep going even when they are tired? I mean you think you are plugging along and you look over and there is someone that just doesn't seem to stop. And this is not only in the gym but could be at work, or just in life. What do they have that you don't have?? Well, it could just be that they are better at that particular thing than you. Not a big deal but not really the point either. The more important thing is how do YOU get to be able to do more! What I see most of the time is that in any of the different situations this can occur, the person that is struggling is seeing the ENTIRE task as one big gigantic ball. It's the old "eating an elephant at one time instead of bite by bite" thing. When you are in the heat of battle, one of the best things you can do is keep your head only on the one rep you are doing at that one time. Not thinking about the next 10 reps or the movements after, or what the next round is going to feel like. Just that one rep. When you do this then the task is MUCH smaller than thinking about all the reps added up. The addition MAKES the big elephant that you have to eat. But if you think of one rep at a time then, you are back to the single bites you will need to finish it. So the next time you are struggling with all the "stuff" you have to do, just bring your focus all the way down to the single thing you have to do. Then do that. and then do that one more time. then do that one more time. And then you will be done:)
