I had this really weird epiphany yesterday. I was thinking about the things I am trying to do with my work, for the gym, for my seminars, for my kids, for my house, etc. All these plans of good things happening. And yes duh, this it's very obvious that we want things to be awesome for us. When I look back at my life, there seems have been a natural swing back and forth from when I seem to be on fire crushing everything, and other times where I have to fight for everything. But it happens to everyone. Even people with money, high-end athletes, celebs, or people you look up to. They all also have ups and downs. And I'm not talking about slight ups and downs. Big ones. Like "just about lose, or did lose everything" ups and downs. This is a fact of life for EVERYONE. When you are up, it's hard to imagine but the reality is that it won't stay there forever. The pendulum will swing back the other way and it can go to insane depths. Lower than you would have ever thought possible. But just as it moved down, it will swing up out of the shadows. Basically, our lives are in a constant of flux. And because of this, we must also be moving. I don't mean moving to different locations but rather we can't be stagnant in our worlds. We have to keep pursuing dreams. We have to always have something to push towards. Must keep fighting. The difference is that when are good, we can experiment a little bit more. We have some wiggle room. When things are bad, then we need to be laser-focused on the push. We don't have the luxury to "try this" or "test that". It needs to be a 100% ALL IN assault on the task at hand. But in either situation, there can be a constant place of solitude. A glint of light. We all need a place like this in our world. This place exists when we are thankful for the things we have. For me, I try really hard to be grateful for all the good things when my world is great. And when things aren't good, instead of thinking or wishing I had this or hoping for that, I will actually voice out loud what I'm thankful for. Direct all my thoughts to those things. This isn't something that I feel I need to tell the world about or post up on social media to make me sound like a grateful person. Its something that I do, something I say, and something that I believe in. I think it's extremely important. True and honest gratitude, whether up or down. This is my solitude, my protection, and my happy place. :)
