One of the things many people like, even if don't they say they like it, is the accountability of CrossFit. In the class, accountability is the fact that you have to verbally say your score out loud for the whiteboard. Some say that this causes undo competition, or makes people feel weird, even embarrassed. I won't say these things aren't possibly true, but I think that the accountability of having to say what you got, accept it and take responsibility for it is important. It teaches you to do your best and be proud of what you did. Will this stop some from "creative counting" so that they can have a higher number than someone else? No, but guess what, everyone knows. The class becomes your accountability buddy. Then there are the people that you workout with. I have seen people group up with others and forge a bond of confidence and drive. "are you going RX? Are you doing this weight? Come on I'll do it with you!" You have a partner in crime! You have someone to line up with and push. When you have this partner, it helps you to push out just a little bit more than you would normally. This is a good thing! If you don't have one......you need to find one. The accountability buddy that will text, call, check to see if you are going to work out or to find out where you were if you weren't there. Sure its a pain in the ass to be "bugged" but when you know you have someone there to keep you moving, it's easier to keep moving! We will also bug you when we haven't seen you for 2 weeks, but don't wait for us. We are a big family that is all trying to be the fittest we can possibly be. All it takes is a little text, a touch of accountability and we can reach all kinds of new heights! :)
