There's something weird about progress or trying to achieve a goal. The more you sit and wonder if you are going to make it, the more you get pissed that you aren't there yet, the more you complain about how hard it is or that you will never make, the less forward progress there is. Yes i know that seems pretty obvious but we do it all the time. We start working really hard and get a little tired then we get frustrated. Then there is a little thought that we are working super hard and nothing is happening ,then we start to shut down. This is NOT the time to look up to see how much further you have to go but to keep your head down and keep plugging away. I remember when I was in high school we had a mountain that we ran every Sunday for conditioning. The first hill was a very steep, long hill and you had little warm up before you hit it. Your lungs went from breathing to immediately burning. Your legs would get instantly heavy. And the more I looked up to see how close I was, or how far away I was, the worst it hurt. But if I kept my head down and kept doing what I was supposed to, then I would reach the top WAY sooner (at least it felt like it) than I would have. And even though it still hurt, it didn't hurt as bad. This is because my focus was on the work, not the pain and difficulty because I wasn't done yet. We have plenty of hills to run up everyday. Keep your head down and the music loud and you will get there sooner than you think!! :)
