I'm a fan of sports movies.  Not hard to imagine since I have been an athlete for the VAST amount of my life.  I just get swept up in the underdog stories, or the comebacks in the very last second.  I think I love these most because, at my core, I want to know that there is always a chance no matter how small that I will be able to come out on top.  I went to see my daughter's high school boy basketball team last night. My daughter is on the local high school cheer team so I go to the games to watch her perform. But this game was really great! The score was a two-point difference the entire games between the home team and the visiting team all the way up until the last 30 seconds. My girl's home team was winning by two points when the visiting team hit a three-point shot with 20 seconds to go in the final quarter. They were up by one!  The visitors calls a timeout.  The home team calls the timeout right after. They went back out onto the floor with the home team in control of the ball. They start dribbling down the court and setting up their plays.  The 20 seconds dwindled to 10. The ball gets passed around two or three times then finally one of the Home players tries to make a shot. It bounces off the rim and all the hands are in the air swatting at the ball. There was a rebound attempt that was unsuccessful and the ball came back down. Then all of a sudden, you see one of the boys from the home team jumping out of the crowd of players and hitting a little lay-up shot right as the buzzer rings. The home team wins by one point and the crowd went absolutely wild!  It was played out exactly like the movies.  Can you say Hoosiers anybody??! I'm not even a basketball fan but this was one of the most fun things I have seen in high school sports in a long time!!!  What I took away from this whole thing, is this: In sports, there is always a chance, no matter how small, where anything can happen.  Anyone can win on any given day all the way up until the final buzzer sounds. So no matter what happens, you must stay in the game until the very end. Never give up hope.  Never give up on yourself.  And never ease up until the absolute end!! :)
