If I asked you what the most precious resource was what would you say?  Money?  Metal?  Diamonds?  Time?  Your significant other?  I'd say no to all of those (not that they aren't important.......just not the MOST important).  The most important thing is your health.  Yeah, I know yo have heard it before, but think about it.  If you are healthy, you have more time.  And the time that you have is more functional, better.  If you are healthy, then you are able to work more, or better, and you won't be "wasting" money on doctors etc so after all that....more money.  IF you are healthy, you can do more.  It's that simple.  Well, then how do you get healthy?  Our own coach Greg Glassman, who was the first to give us a working definition of fitness (increased work capacity across broad times and modal domains) also developed a definition of health.  That definition would be "fitness over time".  This means that if you are someone that is fit, and you are fit for a long time, then you are healthier than someone that is not.  If we go back to fitness and Glassman's definition, one of the models that he used was one he called the "Sickness-Wellness" curve.  On this curve, you can chart ANY point of health and fitness stuff: body fat, blood pressure, VO2 Max, resting heart rate, insulin sensitivity, strength, etc.  On this curve, it will span from Sickness to wellness, to fitness. The object is that if you are in the fit realm then you have a "barrier of protection"  before you will notice anything bad.  You can actually degrade your level (in any of the things we are charting) and fall from fit to "well".  And if you are "well", then you are where the normals would be.  Now you would be able to fix what you were doing, get back on the bus of whatever you were doing, and get back to fit.  If you take this particular model and you have the ability to stay fit over years, then you can see how you would be Healthier.  This isn't about just losing some weight for 6 weeks.  It's not about looking good for a wedding.  It's not about having the biggest 1RMin the gym, or even making it to the Games.  It's about being able to live a life you want but this takes work.  Sure it might cost a little more to get better food, or to join a gym and be active, or take a little time to prep your meals, or make sure you get your workout in.  But isnt the end result exactly what you want?  To be able to do all the things you like to do for longer?  I dont even think its a question.  The most precious resource IS your health!! :)
