For Christmas, I got a “bullet journal” from Danica, a girl that knows me very well.  She is a very business oriented person, knows how busy I am and thought this would help me out.  As I looked on the Bullet Journal website and then YouTube to try to figure out how to do it, I realized there were literally TONS of different ways to do it.  I spent honestly WAY more hours than I should have trying to research which would be the best way for me, how to set it up, how to organize it, what things to put in it, and how to make it unique to me.  Well, I got the journal at Christmas.  It's now May. And how many things have I organized in it?  ZERO!!!  I fell into the trap that many of us fall into when it comes to wanting to START something.  The trap is that you act like, or convince yourself that, you need to research, learn, or just can’t start until the first of the month.  You feel like you are doing your due diligence but in reality, you are just stalling.  Sure maybe you learned a couple things and were able to knock out the very obvious things you don’t like or don’t want to do, but other than that….you are just wasting time!  So, I pulled it out yesterday, put the basic Bullet Journal how-to video up and started putting it together.  This is step #1.  I'm pretty happy with the first step, but I can’t stop there.  I need to get it into my routine.  And to make it my daily routine, I need to stay on it, NO MATTER WHAT, for at least 3 weeks.  This is the average time it takes to get something to become a habit, or a ritual, or better yet, normal.  This trap catches so many people, especially when it comes to health and fitness. We know it's going to be good for us, but it takes work to do and it's a “pain in the ass”, mostly because it’s not what we normally do.  We will try to get everything perfect before we actually do it.  I should know better by now but guess what, you will NEVER have everything set up perfectly.  So instead of wasting time and not doing anything, jump into it.  As you see things that aren’t working, make adjustments, you figure you do this for a couple weeks, and not only are you a couple weeks into making the change, but the trial and error will end up making the things that work really stick!  Don't wait for perfection.  Don’t wait for the first of the month. Don’t wait for Monday.  If you know it's going to make you and your life better, just START!!! :)
