Being sick is the worst.  i take that back.  Having a fever is the worst.  You go to sleep and thrash around burning up and freezing all at the same time.  Then there is some sort of time warp that happens too.  Im not sure how but it will seem like you are sleeping for at least 6-8 hours but it will end up only being like an hour and a half.  MAN it sucks!  But heres the thing, our body does that for a reason.  Yeah i know i know that its TOTALLY uncomfortable and that there are all kinds of medicenes out there to make your body stop the fever but maybe we shouldnt take it right away.  When we get a fever, our body is going through its natural defense system to help kill of whatever germy/virusy/sickness/whatever in us.  The increase in temperature makes our body less favorable of a host for the virus, then it dies off and we get better.  When we take medicene that stops the fever right away, then we dont get to go through this process.  We then have to fight off the virus with a slower attack and we have to deal with the sickess for longer.  Now im not saying you need to just deal with the fever and not take anything.  But im saying let your body do its thing for a little while before you decide to step in.  See if that helps out the duration of the sickness.  My gawd i hope this leaves fast though:)
