Thanksgiving is over and the holiday season has officially kicked off!  We just had Black Friday and zillions of people getting out there super early trying to get some deals on things, maybe for that special someone or maybe just for themselves.  The Christmas music is already playing non stop through all the stores.  There is a ton of red and green everywhere.  Honestly, i really love this time.  Well actually i dont officially like it until Dec 1.  Once that hits then im in MEGA Christmas mode.  I love the old holiday songs, the smells, getting the tree, the whole thing.  Then its time for presents.  This can get tough.  Not because you dont know what to get people but because it can get VERY expensive!!  If you have kids, you end up getting so much stuff for them that they can literally get tired of unwrapping gifts.  If you have that special someone then you will probably spend a ton of money on them.  If you are by yourself, you might spend a bunch of money on yourself.  Lets look back at the last couple lines i just wrote.  See a common thread?  Money and Presents.  This is NOT what the holidays are all about.  Its easy to get stuck in this mindset though.  This is where stress gets smashed into the season.  The pressure of not spending money on the right gifts, worrying if you children will feel bad because they didnt get the $500 gaming system that the kid down the street has.  The pressure of NEEDing to get that special romantic gift, because if you dont then you arent a romantic person.  Or spending a bunch on money on yourself, just because its a deal.  Money is a HUGE stress during the holidays.  There are creative ways to get around this though.  Instead of having to get a present for everyone in your family, the family can do a "draw the name" game where you get one name and thats the only person you buy for.  You can even put a price limit on the gift so that everyone can have fun and feel good about what they gave and what they got.  Or you can decide to make gifts.  You can bake cookies, make a painting, design a dress, or some other artistic creation.  These gifts are usually not as expensive as buying thing even though they may take longer than just running to the store.  But the receiver usually feels and understands the work put in and is very grateful.  Or maybe your gift for the season is just going to visit someone.  The holidays are meant to be shared and to have family and friends around you.  The gift of you is an amazing thing to give.  Dont let the stress get to you.  Enjoy all the good things about the holidays.  They are super fun and if you just breath it all in, you just might get a flashback of a very fun time from when you were a kid.  Bring on the holiday tunes!!!:)
