I saw a blog the other day that said "help ive lost my crossfit fire!".  It was basically talking about the journey of many crossfitters.   We all start off scared or nervous about getting into it, we take the plunge, we learn all these new moves or ways to do old moves, we get a new PR every week, we start walking proud because of all this new stuff we are doing, we talk about it NON stop to everyone and bug the crap out of them, we dress the way crossfitters dress, we mobilize at work and people look at us all weird, we do our first competition, we travel to the games....WE ARE CROSSFIT!!!!  Then around year 2 or so, the flame starts to fade.  We dont get PRs like we used to.  We are still dealing with some nagging injuries.  It feels like a drag to come in.  So what happend???  How do we get IT back???  Crossfit is the best training program out there.  The Inferno has some of the best Crossfit programming and coaches around.  BUT, like many other things in life, you get out of it what you put into it.  1) Are you still tracking all your workouts?  This is the ONLY way to see the progress you have been making and as you get better and better, the PR will be spaced out MUCH more.  This is not bad, its just how it is.  2) Dont base your progress on just your 1RM squat or Deadlift.  If you start to plateau in one area, then put some emphasis on another area; maybe gymnastics skills like HS push ups, ring dips, hollow body rocks, etc.  No these may not be as exciting to put on facebook but they are JUST as important as the big lifts.  Same thing with running rowing etc.  3) Remember that this group of people that you sweat with each and everyday is your TEAM!!  You dont have to limit your "team time" to just the one hour workout in the day.  We have many that do all kinds of fun and different things.  Get involved with them.  When you start to see and do other fun things with your group then you can get re-energized again.  4) Pick an event to shoot for: competition, paleo challenge, pr challenge, a half marathon, etc.  When you have a goal it keeps you driving forward!! These are just a couple ideas.  I have been playing with this stuff for 8-9 years and i couldnt imagine doing anything else.  Dont let the fire fade!!:) FEEL THE BURN!!!!
