Who is your idol and why? We have all grown up with people that we admire. Usually its because they have something or an ability that we want o aspire to achieve. Lets say your idol was Rich Froning, the champ. How would you react to this? Would you be nervous? Would you be scared? WOuld you be excited? Many people can get shell shocked or freaked out if they have to actually go up against their idols. As a competitor, it is important to not let yourself get starry-eyed in these cases. There should be a feeling of "bring it and lets see what you got!" that needs to be running through your head. Don't tell yourself they will beat you but rather know that there is absolutely no pressure on you because you are the "under-dog"! ITs these situations where you actually have the upper hand because you are free from any stresses about your performance. So if you ever get the chance to stand side-by-side one of the best, welcome that chance and then make the most of it! Show the world, and better yet…yourself, just how awesome you are and that you are a force to be reckoned with!
