Did you know that Tabatas will burn more that 9 times the calories of a normal moderate aerobic type workout over the course of the day?  Even though you can do a single series tabata in 4 minutes, the calorie burning powers can continue for up to 2 days after the workout!!!  How crazy is that!!  It used to be that you needed to have your heart rate in the "fat-burning" zone to lose max calories.  The zone was about 65% of your max heart rate.  Well, studies now show that yes you do burn calories for the entire time of that workout but once you are done working out, the burning stops.  But, since the tabata high intensity puts such a stress on your body and forces such a reaction that you metabolically burn so hot during the workout that you continue to burn for the rest of the day.  So if you get cardio benefits, plus the strength and power benefits, as well as fat loss benefits from doing high intensity workouts, why would you want to go "jogging" and think that you are getting in shape when you do?  It honestly does so much less for you and take 5 times as long!!!   You know what im choosing!!!!  So if you need to lose more weight, dont think that adding three 3-5 mile runs a day to your schedule is going to do it.  Add 2-3 tabata sprints and you will really see and feel the difference!!!!
