We talk constantly about all this workout stuff.  We talk about eating right so that you are getting the right fuel.  Basically, we are talking about doing the things that make your life and your health better overall.  The workout and the diet are extremely important but there are some others things we need to think about as well.  Are you getting the right amount of sleep?  Do you have problems sleeping?  I am at fault with this just as much as others.  I'm a 6 hour a night sleep guy.  This isn't good.  The average adult should be getting around 8 hours of sleep a night.  Children should even get more.  A lack of sleep can drive up cortisol, which is a stress hormone, in your body which can lead to inflammation and excess fat storage around the waist.  Also, the majority of our muscle growth and repair happen during the night.  If we shorten the amount of sleep we get, then we shorten our healing time.  The crazy thing is that most of us say we have no choice and that our schedules are so busy and this is why we get such limited sleep. However, when we spend hours facebooking, or watching movies, or "zoning out" on tv, we are wasting this precious sleep time.  Do yourself a favor, put the computer down, turn off the tv and get some sleep.  Its going to help your health, your performance and make you a much happier person!
